Daughter of a wealthy family decides to marry a poor working man.

Kept Husbands centers around the class struggles and stereotypes between the working class and the wealthy, which was particularly striking during the Depression era when this film was made.

RKO borrowed director Lloyd Bacon and actress Dorothy Mackaill from Warner Bros. for this film.

Clara Kimball Young, a major star in the silent era makes her sound film debut in this picture after a six-year absence from the screen.
