The Bat (1959)

Crime Mystery Thriller

A mystery writer (Agnes Moorehead) has rented a mansion called The Oaks, where an embezzled fortune may be hidden. The lonely country house soon becomes the site of many mysterious and dangerous activities. Meanwhile, the town is being terrorized by a mysterious murderer known as “The Bat“, said to be a man with no face who murders women at night by ripping out their throats with steel claws.

The Bat was the final film appearance for Darla Hood, who between 1935 and 1941 played “Darla” in Our Gang comedy shorts.

A few years after this film, Agnes Moorehead would be entertaining U.S. TV audiences as the witch Endora, mother of Samantha the witch in Bewitched (1964).
