Cyrano De Bergerac (1950)
American Adventure Romance Drama.
France, 1640: Cyrano, the charismatic swordsman-poet with the absurd nose, hopelessly loves the beautiful Roxane. She, in turn, confesses to Cyrano her love for the handsome but tongue-tied Christian. The chivalrous Cyrano sets up with Christian an innocent deception, with tragic results.
José Ferrer is the only person to receive an Oscar, Tony, and Emmy nomination for the same role.
Cyrano De Bergerac was one of the first films to employ the then-new Western Electric magnetic sound recording system, which would become commonplace by 1953 and which was a necessity for stereo sound recording and reproduction.
