American pre-Code romance war drama.
An American ambulance driver and an English nurse fall in love in Italy during World War I.
Based on the 1929 semi-autobiographical novel A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway. This was the first Ernest Hemingway novel to be turned into a film.
A Farewell To Arms was the third most popular movie at the U.S. box office for 1932.
The film won two Academy Awards, one for Best Cinematography and another for Best Sound Recording,
and was also nominated for another two, Best Picture and for Best Art Direction.
