Killer Bait – (Too Late For Tears) (1949)
American Film Noir.
Through a fluke circumstance, a ruthless woman stumbles across a suitcase filled with $60,000, and is determined to hold onto it even if it means murder.
Adjusted for inflation, the $60,000 in the bag would be equivalent to about $663,000 in 2021.
The film was independently produced and then released through United Artists in 1949–a high watermark year for film noir.
Hunt Stromberg borrowed Lizabeth Scott, Kristine Miller, Don DeFore, and director Byron Haskin from independent producer Hal B. Wallis for the production.
Originally titled “Too Late For Tears” this film was re-released in 1955 with the title “Killer Bait”
