The Bigamist (1953)
American drama film noir
A man secretly married to two women feels the pressure of his deceit.
The Bigamist has been cited as the first American feature film in which the female star of a film directed herself.
Writer-producer Collier Young was the then husband of Joan Fontaine and had previously been married to Ida Lupino.
This film features four acting Oscar winners: Edmond O’Brien, Joan Fontaine, Edmund Gwenn and Jane Darwell.
During the Beverly Hills tour of movie star homes, the houses the driver says belong to Jack Benny and James Stewart are their actual homes on Roxbury Drive.
This is the only time Ida Lupino ever directed herself, and would be the last feature film she directed for more than 12 years until The Trouble with Angels (1966).
