A young girl travels west to live with her uncle during the California Gold Rush only to find that he has been killed by Indians and his identity assumed by an outlaw.
A Romance of The Redwoods is one of the only two films (The Little American (1917) is the other) in which Mary Pickford was directed by Cecil B. DeMille.
The two films were released a few months apart in the summer of 1917.
